The Toolbox Team
Karen Hedley’s career has been dedicated to disability rights and communication. Founded by Karen in 2021, the Toolbox employs primarily disabled people - currently around 90% of our team.
The team not only have lived experience of disability, they also have decades of experience in project management, education, counselling, youth work, art, photography and administration.
Our team is passionate about disability, accessible communication and Easy Read, and we want to share our expertise with you now.

How long will it take to learn Easy Read?
Our new videos are still under development, but the whole series (of 5-6 videos) will take less than 2 hours to watch. Of course the best way to learn is to write, and you can post in our members’ forum for feedback from the Toolbox team and other members.
How long is my membership?
We suggest you stay with us, to have access to all the new images and information released each month! We haven’t put any time limits on the membership though, so you can give us a month’s trial and leave if you want - but we hope you’ll want to stay and get the most out of your investment.
What is the Easy Read style or approach?
Easy Read is a type of writing that uses easy to understand words, pictures and formatting, to make any document or website easier to understand. Nearly half of the Australian population finds reading difficult so Easy Read is the future of communication for everyone.
